LA SCALA NEWS
3rd Quarter
2007 from Andrew Fentiman (603)
This is the first time in recorded history that two
Category 5 Atlantic hurricanes have made landfall in the same year (hurricane
season ends November 30). One tornado hit
QUICK NEWS - Welcome to new owners John & Kate Turbyfill (1003) and Mike & Anita Siegal (1801) ☼ Work on La Scala’s exterior will be starting soon, with exterior re-painting to follow once the dryer weather arrives ☼ 11 untouched ‘decorator-ready’ units remain, with 4 more currently being fixed up ☼ You should have received an e-mail invitation to log into the new Colony Foundation website. If not, e-mail nicolegalvano@wcicommunities.com ☼ To find what’s going on in Pelican Landing, go to www.PelicanLanding.org, click on ‘Website Entrance’, then click on ‘Activities Central’ ☼ Yoga Class: Thursdays 5 p.m. in Fitness Center, $20 per class (instructor brings mats) ☼ On September 19th, WCI had it’s first Florencia (The Colony’s newest tower) closings with new owners. It’s an attractive building, with a contemporary interior design, floor plans from 2,451 to 3,276 and 116 units… but it’s not La Scala! ☼
HOUSEKEEPING –
If you are having guests stay in your unit – without you being in residence –
please help your guests get oriented by asking them to come and introduce
themselves to Joseph & Isabella as soon as practical after they arrive
☺ Keep items off storage locker
room floors and inside your own locker cage
☺ Park in your designated
spaces, not in other owners’ spaces, or in guest parking overnight
☺ Please don’t come straight out of
the pool into the building, dripping water on our lovely marble floors ☺
Recycling Rooms: please break down cardboard boxes
flat ☺ If you have ‘locked’ your
elevator doors, your newspaper will be put in the Mail Room ☺ It’s September,
time to arrange your twice-yearly a/c maintenance. If you only have your units
maintained once a year, algae can
build up and cause leaks…. sounds ‘expensive’! ☺ Fetty (Maintenance) and Pilar
(House-keeping) are so helpful, they will hesitate to refuse you, but please
don’t ask them to do favors during their work hours. They each have a busy
schedule. If you need them, ask the office ☺ Recycling: please put items in
correct bins (no plastic bags), or Fetty wastes his time re-sorting everything
(the pick-up driver will refuse incorrectly separated items) ☺ We are looking
into an internet-based setup whereby absentee unit owners could listen in to
Board Meetings, via the Card Room telephone. More on that later ☺ In hurricane
season, all owners who do not have hurricane shutters enclosing their units must
remove patio furniture and other items from their screened terraces and open
balconies (bringing everything inside the unit). If a hurricane approaches and
the Association has to perform this task for an owner, to prevent flying debris
from causing damage to the building and other units, the owner will be billed
the direct labor cost of moving said items into your unit ☺ Be careful around
the building exterior, this winter. We will soon commence prepping the exterior
for re-painting (a project that may last into January 2008) and there will be
workers and equipment to be mindful of, around the building ☺
