LA SCALA NEWS
3rd Quarter
2008 from Andrew Fentiman (603)
Although there has been a
decent amount of rain this summer and the local lakes are high, we have so far
been lucky and have eluded any serious ‘named’ storms. The building’s exterior
painting and weather-proofing is finished and La Scala is looking good.
QUICK NEWS – ☺ The next Board Meeting is now on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 9 a.m. in the La Scala Card Room (also the 2009 Budget Meeting) ☺The main fountain pumps and jets have been overhauled and now the fountains soar to new heights; the rear fountain also has new heads and sprays higher and quieter (thank you, Joseph) ☺ 20% discount from Hyatt Stillwater Spa for Pelican Landing residents, Sunday through Wednesday until November 15 ☺ Isabella arranged for masseuse Tamara Thomas to come for the day. Residents booked 60-minute ($75), or 90-minute ($125), massage appointments. It was a great success (Jackie and I can testify). Isabella has scheduled October 21 and plans more dates during season ☺ La Scala now has an unsecured wireless network, accessible from the Foyer, Grand Salon, Guest Suites, Board Room, Library & Card Room (thanks, Jeff) ☺ New: Pelican Landing children’s playground: take the grand-children! ☺
HOUSEKEEPING – ☼ If your a/c units have not been serviced for a year, now is a good time to arrange a service call (unless you have a contract with Union Complete, which is coordinated by the office) ☼ When you are absent but have guests in your unit who want to dine at the Bay Club, you need to fax a House Guest Form to the Bay Club: contact Tammi Reyes on (239) 390-4709 for the form ☼ During hurricane season, it is your responsibility to let your hurricane shutters down and put your lanai furniture inside your unit, if you have no shutters. Also put all open balcony furniture inside your unit. Please do not ask Joseph or Fetty to do this ☼ Electrical cords for car battery-charging must be UL-listed and no longer than 20 feet ☼
